The WORSHIP CENTRAL YOUTH ACADEMY desires to raise up a new generation of young worshippers who will serve the Church through music. The Youth Academy will aim to set a solid theological foundation for the students as well as equipping them with practical tools to worship through music in a contemporary setting.
Sessions will be held at The Tapestry Richmond and will run bi-weekly on Monday nights starting Oct 16, where mentors will first run through an in-depth discussion on theological and practical topics to equip students spiritually and hone their leadership skills. Following that segment, students will break off into individual instrument-focused tracks or meet together as a full band. This year, we'll be offering instrument tracks for acoustic guitar, electric guitar, piano, keys/pad, and drums.

| COLIN YEN [ acoustic ]
Colin is the Youth Intern at Tapestry Church in Richmond, and Worship Leader for Chapel Movement. With a heart for youth and worship, he decided to pursue vocational ministry as an answer to God’s calling for his life. He sees worship is a daily commitment of love, beyond music on a Sunday, and he hopes to carry that with him in everything he does. Colin has a tendency to name his instruments, will never say no to good sushi, and dreams of backpacking across all the national parks in the States.
| HENDRIK BISSCHOFF [ electric ]
Hendrik is the Worship Director of Worship Central Canada, and Associate Pastor at a local church in Ladner BC. He moved to Vancouver from South Africa in 2014 as he felt that God has called him to come serve and love the people in Vancouver. He has an immense passion for music and loves seeing Church unified through worship and relationship. Hendrik loves his wife, playing the guitar, and growing his beard.
| JASIEL JAO [ piano ]
Jasiel has a heart for service and worship, with a desire to understand what honouring God with every aspect of life looks like. She has been serving on worship teams for over 10 years, loves playing music and always learning, and is thrilled to be a part of this movement to share this heart for worship with you. Jasiel has always been convicted by the sense of mission for Cambodia that God has placed in her, and hopes to step into that journey when the right time comes.
| TIMOTHY CHOY [ keys/pad ]
Tim (Choy) began leading worship in youth group back in his hometown of Edmonton, Alberta. In 2012, he moved to Vancouver for school and by God's grace was invited into several ministry opportunities to learn more about worship as a lifestyle and using music for His glory, developing the craft of guitar and keys over time. He currently serves as a Worship Leader at The Tapestry Marpole as well as Creative Director for Worship Central Canada, and is excited to be a part of this journey with you! Call him Choy so we don't get confused with the other Tim.
| TIM ROOSMA [ drums ]
Tim has been drumming in church for over ten years and has lead worship at his home church for the past three years. He’s been fortunate to have been surrounded by some incredible musicians and worshipers who both pushed him musically and solidified his understanding of what it means to authentically worship. Alongside that, he has a huge heart for youth ministry and has served in that area since his university days. He’s a little bit too tall for his own good, and frequently bumps his head. Call him Roosma to distinguish from the other Tim, but pronounce it correctly! /ɹəʊzma/
The Youth Academy is open to students in grades 11 and 12. There will be a limited number of spots available per instrument track. An informal audition process will be held before the program begins to enable us to get to know the students better. The registration cost is $200 CDN for those participating this year.
APPLICATIONS MUST BE IN BY OCTOBER 1ST
