Darrell Johnson / Bringing Heaven Down: Praying the Lord's Prayer / In His 'Lord's Prayer,' Jesus gives us what many call 'the dignity of causality.' Jason Ballard / What is the Purpose of the Songs We Sing in Church? The Multi-faceted Nature of Church Music / In the modern worship era there is a lot of conversation about what types of songs we should sing in the church. These are questions about content, tone and intent. The reality is that we use music to express a lot of different things. In many churches congregants sing songs as a way to praise God. But musical worship can also express prayers, laments, and mutual encouragement and edification. These songs can create environment for ministry and encounter with God and they can anchor us in God’s overarching story, as we rehearse in our hearts who God is and what God has done. This session will explore 9 different things we do through corporate singing. Our hope is that we can think about our liturgies more holistically and embrace all that song singing can be in the church today.
Timothy Choy / Ministry in the Digital Age / What does it mean to be created in God’s image as creative beings? What does it look like to use our gifts for Kingdom work in the practical context of digital content?
